State has sufficient LPG, petrol, diesel, CNG stocks; will talk to Centre if required: Madhya Pradesh minister Govind Singh Rajput

Food, civil supplies and consumer protection minister Govind Singh Rajput, in a conversation with TOI, shares his thoughts about the ongoing LPG supply squeeze in MP. The minister stresses there is sufficient stock of domestic LPG cylinders, petrol, diesel, CNG and PNG in MP, adding that districts have been directed to prevent hoarding and black marketing of LPG. He says the government would turn to the Centre for directions and advice if the crisis deepens. The following are excerpts from an exclusive interview...What is the current situation vis-a-vis LPG supply in MP?We all are aware and are closely tracking the developments in West Asia. There is sufficient stock of domestic LPG in MP. The government is keeping a check on hoarding and black-marketing of domestic LPG cylinders. All district collectors have been directed to keep close watch on the situation. If supplies are normal, why are there long queues fordomestic LPG cylinders in MP?It is largely due to panicbuying. However, the situation is still under control. We are keeping a close watch on developments and will talk to the Centre, if required. We are making all efforts to ensure there is no problem for LPG consumers in the state.What has been the government's plan to tackle the LPG crisis so far?A committee of ministers has been constituted to monitor the situation. Officials concerned have been directed to interact at different levels and take continuous feedback. The supply chain is also being monitored and all necessary measures are being taken (to ease the supply stress).How many days of LPG stock is available in MP?I can say that there is sufficient stock available. We are receiving regular supplies of LPG cylinders. However commercial cylinders are available only for educational institutions and hospitals. Domestic LPG supply would continue as normal.
